I recently went to my cousin’s wedding up at the top of Penshaw hill in Washington. She asked me to film some of it and here it is. Very windy and rainy, slightly wobbly handheld camera work. But nice memories of a lovely day. (FIlmed on canon 60D)

This was my final year project from my Photography and Film degree. Newsroom. The series explores the newsroom studio space, a paradoxical environment where both the superficial and the profound juxtapose in front of the most theatrical of backdrops. The images uncover the metaphorical and actual gaps between the real and the staged, examining the tensions between the studio environment and the constructed image of the news.

(or thats what I used to say to the tutors anyway!)

This is one  of the first projects I did at university, exploring a space. I chose the Dentist, a place where so many people seem to fear, I decided to photograph the room in an almost Hitchcock style making it look intimidating and overpowering. Shooting the dentists chair I took inspiration from Warhol’s electric chair screen prints.
